Ethephon: Ethephon

[Kurzwort] das, -s, auch 2-Chloräthan-phosphonsäure, kristalline wasserlösliche Substanz, die als Wachstumsregler und Reifungsbeschleuniger bei Pflanzen verwendet wird; bewirkt z. B. Halmstabilisierung bei Gerste, Stimulierung des Latexflusses bei Kautschukbäumen, Reifungsbeschleunigung bei Tomaten und Zitrusfrüchten. Ethephon wird von den Pflanzen aufgenommen und zerfällt in wässriger Lösung zu dem Pflanzenhormon Äthylen sowie Salzsäure (HCl) und Phosphorsäure (H₃PO₄).
